ALTER SERVERS

The Altar Servers movement educates young people on how to serve at Mass and live a life inspired by their patron saint, St. Dominic Savio, following the principles of Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness taught by St. John Bosco.

Activities include seminars, retreats, sports, requiem Mass for the departed, charity and outreach, and regular meetings.

Membership is open to those aged seven and above, who have received their First Eucharist and are preparing for Confirmation. Members must also have permission from their parents/guardians and be able to communicate in English and Swahili.

Impact on Faith and Christian Living:

  • Altar serving allows young people to actively demonstrate their faith to the parish community.
  • It helps Masses and other services run smoothly and enhances the beauty of church rituals.
  • The movement fosters a sense of calling to serve at the altar, builds skills in communication, teamwork, punctuality, and self-confidence, and encourages a deeper commitment to the faith.
