Each Small Christian Community (SCC) in the parish of St. Joseph and Mary, Shauri Moyo, is inspired by the life and example of a patron saint, who provides spiritual guidance and serves as a model of Christian virtues. These communities meet regularly to journey together in faith, supporting one another through prayer, mutual encouragement, and acts of service, all while deepening their relationship with God and their fellow parishioners. Here’s a look at each SCC and how they reflect the charism of their respective patron saints:

Kaloleni SCC - St. Jude

St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless causes, inspires the Kaloleni community to be a source of hope and perseverance. This group focuses on prayer for those facing difficult and desperate circumstances, helping members trust in God’s timing and mercy. Dagoroni SCC - St. Martin de Porres

Biafra SCC - St. Angela Merici

Section III SCC - St. Mary Goretti

St. Mary Goretti’s example of forgiveness and purity guides the Section III community. Kinyago SCC - St. Augustine

M.O.W SCC - St. Paul

Shauri Moyo A SCC - St. Michael the Archangel

They engage in regular prayer vigils and intercessory prayer for the safety and well-being of their members, their families, and the larger parish community.

Heshima SCC - St. Gabriel

St. Gabriel, the messenger of God, inspires the Heshima community to share the message of salvation. This group is focused on spreading the Good News through evangelistic efforts, prayer groups, and Bible studies. Shauri Moyo B SCC - St. Veronica

Shauri Moyo C SCC - St. Mary Magdalene

St. Mary Magdalene, the first witness to Christ’s resurrection, inspires the Shauri Moyo C community to live as joyful witnesses of the resurrection. Central A SCC - St. Charles Lwanga

St. Charles Lwanga’s courage in the face of persecution serves as a model for the Central A community. Central B SCC - St. John the Baptist

Central C SCC - St. Vincent de Paul

Handcraft SCC - St. Joseph the Worker

Mashimoni SCC - St. Theresa of the Child Jesus

California SCC - St. Joseph the Guardian

Digo B SCC - St. Anthony of Padua

Kanuku A SCC - St. Francis of Assisi

Central - St. Josephine Bakhita SCC

St. Josephine Bakhita, a former slave who found freedom and joy in Christ, serves as an inspiration to the Central SCC, named after her. This community emphasizes the value of freedom in Christ and the dignity of every person, especially those who have suffered oppression or hardship. The members of the Central community are committed to fighting injustice, promoting the rights of the marginalized, and bringing healing to those wounded by life’s trials. They support one another in overcoming challenges and offer prayer and solidarity to those in need, reflecting St. Josephine’s spirit of forgiveness and hope despite her painful past.

Central - St. John the Evangelist SCC

St. John the Evangelist, known for his close relationship with Christ and his profound writings on love and faith, is the patron saint of the Central community. Inspired by his deep spirituality and the commandment of love, this group focuses on fostering unity and love within the parish. The St. John the Evangelist community encourages deep personal reflection on God’s love, particularly through reading and meditating on the Scriptures.
