YOUTH SERVING CHRIST (YSC)
The Youth Serving Christ (YSC) is a Catholic youth group that unites young people from three outstations to evangelize and grow in their Christian faith. Guided by the motto “Together we journey, together we serve,” the group’s primary focus is liturgical, particularly singing during Mass, alongside spiritual and social activities.
Membership is open to unmarried youth aged 18 to 27, who are registered and active in their Small Christian Communities (SCCs).
To join, members must provide their national ID, baptismal card, letter from their SCC, and passport-sized photos.
Activities include spiritual engagements like Bible sharing, prayer, recollections, spiritual talks, and charity work. Socially, the group organizes sports tournaments, cultural events like “African Sunday,” hiking, and study tours, fostering both faith and camaraderie.
The YSC impacts faith by deepening spiritual understanding through activities like Holy Mass animation, catechism refresher classes, Bible trivia, and learning about patron saints (St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent Pallotti, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus). Additionally, youth participate in weekly prayers and Small Christian Communities, enhancing both their faith and community engagement.
In essence, YSC encourages spiritual growth, community service, and deeper faith through active participation and shared experiences.
