LITURGY COMMITTEE
The Liturgy Group is an instituted ministry within the Catholic Church, established in 1972 by Pope John Paul VI to ensure the full, active participation of the faithful in worship, in accordance with Catholic teachings. The group’s motto is “Full, Active Participation, Knowledge of, & Handling Tools of Worship”. Duties and Activities:
- Learning and understanding Church doctrines and faith.
- Participating in liturgical acts and procedures (Piety).
- Supporting the peaceful celebration of Mass, feasts, solemnities, and memorials.
- Glorifying God and sanctifying fellow Christians.
- Preparing and reciting psalms, presenting general prayers of the faithful, and guiding liturgical singing.
- Reading Scriptures during Mass and training others to do so.
- Educating the faithful on the use, handling, and preservation of liturgical tools (sacraments and sacramentals).
- Supporting the needy in charity and mercy.
- Collaborating with other church groups on matters of faith and community livelihood.
Impact on Faith and Christians Living: The Liturgy Group fosters deeper understanding and active participation in Mass, helping to glorify God, sanctify individuals, and support the community.
Membership:
- Members are elected and appointed from Small Christian Communities (SCCs) within the parish.
- Must be baptized Catholics, confirmed, and actively participating in the Church’s sacraments.
- Must have a solid understanding of serving God, church teachings, and participating in Mass.
The group plays a vital role in ensuring proper liturgical practices and spiritual growth within the parish.
