CATHOLIC MEN ASSOCIATION (CMA)

The Catholic Men Association (CMA) is a lay, non-profit, and non-political organization of baptized male Catholics in the Roman Catholic Church. Inspired by the example of St. Joseph, the patron saint of the CMA, its mission is to evangelize and promote the values of Good Family, Good Church, Good Society at the family, church, society, and national levels.

Membership is open to all baptized Catholic men who are practicing the faith, including men above 18, married men, and members of Small Christian Communities (jumuiyas). Clergy may also join as associate members. To become a full member, one must be commissioned, participate in church activities, and be part of a jumuiya.

Activities and Objectives include:

  • Uniting Catholic men in Kenya.
  • Evangelizing the Gospel and defending the Catholic faith.
  • Promoting religious life, education, and spirituality among members and their families.
  • Fostering cooperation and collective decision-making on Christian morality, family, and civic life.
  • Encouraging healthy social behavior, environmental care, and socio-economic initiatives for self-reliance.

Impact on Faith and Christian Living: The CMA strengthens faith through social, cultural, religious, economic, and environmental engagement. It supports members in times of need (e.g., sickness, bereavement, economic hardship) and reinforces community ties, positively impacting the parish.

Recruitment and Commissioning: Membership begins with registration, but full membership is attained through commissioning after active participation in church activities. Commissioned members are required to wear the official CMA uniform. Recruitment is done through church announcements and at the jumuiya level.

In conclusion, the CMA is a key organization in the church, encouraging men to join for its spiritual benefits and the positive impact it has on personal and community life. The association is truly “The Pride of the Catholic Men.”
